Everybody come and stay
Throw every last care away
Let’s go to Vermont…
Today.

Yes , that’s my version of “Let’s go to the mall” of How I Met Your Mother, Now before you start asking  why I am singing Robin Scherbatsky’s song which even she hated or whether I magically became Vermont’s tourism ambassador, let me tell you straight – Vermont’s Government is going to pay $10,000 to new resident who works remotely.

Yes, pal, you heard it right, the State has signed a new law according to which government will pay the worker, who can work remotely and that money can be used on expenses like costs to relocate, necessary computer equipment and software, internet access and co-working memberships.

This is one of their efforts to increase the population as the state comes as the second smallest population. If you are not sure whether it is a good idea or not, then definitely check out the place before you make a decision, the state has initiated a program “Stay to Stay” which welcomes job seeker to go to the state and meet young professionals and hiring employees.

How to Apply

The law will come into force from 1 January 2019 and application will open on the same day as well. So, mark the date and set an alert, as you will be selected on first come first served basis.

To be eligible

For the year 2019, the grants limit is set to be $125,000 and it is expected to increase to $250,000 till 2020 so even if you are not planning on next year you can definitely try in 2020. You will be expected to pay the taxes even if you are working for another state but if you are from New York then odds are in your favor as the taxes are very less than in the big apple city.

Why Vermont?

You might be thinking why Vermont, why not Wyoming or District of Columbia as the trio comes at bottom of the most populous state in the U.S.

It is so because Vermont has the aging population with a third highest median age of 42.7 until last year. And it will remain the same if they are going to depend upon natural childbirth.

Perks Of Moving

One of the merits of moving can be the sweeping amount of $10,000 but it’s only for 2 years, then what, move again? That sounds ridiculous.

With 13 million tourists per year, there must be something that makes people come back and visit the state. I have listed below some of the points which can make you permanently settle for the state. See for yourself.

Skiing on the countless acres of mountain in winter or watching leaves of vibrant color in fall or to enjoy the waters of Lake Champlain or other lakes in spring and summer, Vermont has a lot to offer, It’s like Christmas every day as you get to see mountain and  lakes and farm  while you drive to work.
